About
Hi there. My name is Katie.
How did this shop come about? Well. everything changed for me in 2021. One of my best friends was diagnosed with a brain tumour and, tragically, died six months later. It was a shocking reminder that you never know what’s around the corner. And it got me asking whether there was more I wanted to do in my life, and the answer was a resounding yes.
I had a good job in a great company with fantastic people, but I felt like I’d lost a lot of the passion I’d once had. I could carry on, slogging away, waiting until I had enough to retire. Or I could take a leap of faith, leave the rat race and do more of the things I really enjoy now.
This led me to set up Home Farm Embroidery.
In our frantic, stress-filled world, we all need to find more time for ourselves. Embroidery is great for slowing you down. It’s relaxing done quietly in an armchair, and, if done in front of the TV, can remove the guilt that can come from doing nothing. And it’s extremely gratifying to see something you have made turn out really beautiful.
But many people still think embroidery is a hobby for old ladies. I think partly because many of the kits are a little old fashioned. They can also feel a little pointless if there is nothing much you can do with your embroidery once it’s finished.
Our aim is to create beautiful, easy to stitch embroidery kits that come to you with a purpose. Whether this is to create a card, a hanger, a bookmark, a picture, or something else, we want people to feel proud and pleased with what they’ve created and to put their hard work to good use.
As a small, independent, British business we take great pride in ensuring our kits are high quality. We do everything in-house from designing the pattern and choosing the thread colours, to writing the instructions, and packing and posting the kits.
I hope you will give our kits a try and that you find them a joy to open and complete.
